I have been awarded 3 new awards by my friend Patti at Nonna's News. She awarded me with the"Spread the Love", "You Make My Day" and "Everyday Kindness" awards. Patti is such a precious friend and I love to read her blog. We have daughters that were friends in school and graduated together and then in October they had baby girls on the same day. Reading Patti's blog made me want to start my own! Thank you Patti for the awards!

I would like to pass these on to my sweet daughter at Johnson and Johnson. Have a great day!!

Watch out, Ken...there's a new banker in town!! :)

My little boy started his new job today. Austin started working at the bank here in town. He was excited. I like it when he gets dressed up. He looked so handsome today in his khakis, shirt and tie and I just had to post some pictures!! He is so much fun and is a sweetheart to his proud momma. When he got home from work, I met him outside to take some pictures. I said, "Austin, I bet those ladies at work are glad they hired you. You look so handsome." He said, "Mom, tell me something I don't know!" Little goober!!

My sweet boy!!

Lazy daze...

That's me today. In a lazy daze!! I decided after school yesterday to go to Wal-Mart since the weather was supposed to be too cold today to do anything outside - I needed a few essentials and some things for some projects that I am working on. So...Robert got Austin off to work this morning at 5:30 and then we slept in. Yes - I do sometimes feel guilty on the weekends when Austin has to get up in the wee hours of the morning to go to work, but I stay in bed until the guilt goes away. :) Like Austin does every other morning when I have to get up in the wee hours of the morning and go to work and he stays in bed until noonish. So far today I have watched 2 of the 3 movies that I rented, got caught up on The Young and the Restless and put together a little cabinet that I am going to put in my bathroom that I have been redoing. And yes, I am still in my flannel pajamas. Oh well...

Learning and Discovery- are they the same...

Chandler was old enough this year to begin Awana's at their church. I think his age group is called Cubbies. It is a really good program and the children learn so much. I know it must warm God's heart (as it does mine) to hear that precious Chandler recite his bible verses. When I was down last weekend he told me his verse for the week which was "Let the little children come unto Him. " Mark 10:14 I know God smiles when those little ones recite their verses.

Princess Rainey has discovered her fists and she tries so hard to get them both in her mouth.
Britni said that last night they were eating dinner and Rainey kept looking at Britni's plate. She would lean toward the plate and spit out her pacifier. She has figured out the connection with that plate of food.

Headed South...

I am headed to see my grandkids tomorrow as soon as I get off of work!! I can't wait! I talked to Chandler earlier this evening and he was telling me that his daddy was home which was early for Chuck. Chandler said that Daddy had already made money for today and that his daddy wore his church clothes to work because they had a big meeting and then he said- "he's the boss." I asked Chandler who was the boss at home-Daddy or Mommy and he quickly said "Mommy is." hee hee I will be back later with new pictures!! Have a great weekend!!

Happy January Birthdays!

Me and my brothers.

My brothers and I at ages 1, 3, and 5.

January is a busy month for birthdays in my family. My older brother, his wife and my younger brother all have birthdays within days of each other. Our daughter-in-law, Erin's birthday is in January and also my father-in-law's birthday was this month.

Steve and Tina

Uncle Jim and Rainey

Erin and Noah

I have 2 older sisters as well. After the 2nd one was born, so the story goes, she slept with Mother and Daddy for the next 10 years. They finally got her to her own room and then came my brother, then me and then my little brother. So it was actually like having two families. We have always been close and we have a great time together. Both of my brothers are big cut ups. Once when my older brother, Steve, and I were in high school- I was in band and he had athletics the same period. He came to the band hall one afternoon and asked to speak to me. It had been snowing and when I opened the door he and a few friends threw snowballs at me. I thought it was pretty funny but the band director didn't think so!! Everyone always put him up to pranks and he never let them down. One day he put a lizard in his teacher's book at the place they would be studying that day. She opened the book, saw the lizard and then slammed the book shut. I think she thought it was Steve but he assured her that he would do no such thing and she felt bad for accusing him. :) His friends also dared him to smoke a cigar in her class one day and he did. She smelled it and he stuck it in his sock so he wouldn't get caught and burned his leg. hee hee My daddy was a farmer and rancher so we were always having to work!! Ugh!! He had cotton and we had to hoe the weeds. One day he left Steve, Jim and I in the cotton field and Jim and I got into a fight. I would always scratch them and then I would get in trouble. Well this day was no different. I scratched Jim all over including his face. Then we knew we were going to get in so much trouble for fighting so we made up a story that Jim was chasing a rabbit and tripped and fell. The dirt was really dry and hard so that was possible. I guess Daddy decided that we must have worked the problem out ourselves so we didn't get in trouble even though I am sure he knew the rabbit story was not true. My sister-in-law, Tina, whose birthday is also in January is a sweetheart. She has to put up with my brother's pranks. People will call Tina on the phone and if Steve answers he always has something to say like, "she's at the beer store." One time he called my mom and told her he was with the phone company and they were going to "air out" the phone lines and that she would have to leave her phone off the hook for the next 30 minutes. He is always so believable when he disguises his voice that Mother believed him and she did it.
Anyway...happy birthday to my brothers, Steve and Jim and my sister-in-law, Tina.

True friends

glitter graphics

True friends are those who know you and like you anyway!!! Well my sweet friends (and you know who you are-Kim, Patti, Amy...) have left me the sweetest comments concerning Austin's deceased dog and have even prayed for me. What more can you ask for in a friend. I am the president of Aggie Moms and last Sunday we had the 7th anniversary of the founding of our club. I called my girls and asked for help with my closing remarks. I asked them what advice they would give Aggie students (freshmen or transfer students or students in general). Britni said that they need to surround themselves with supportive friends and I think that is great advice- not just for college students but for everyone. Friends are a very important part of life!! Thank you, friends, for caring!!

One more sad story...

I promise I will try to get off of the sad stories. When Chandler is here he leaves fingerprints on my doors and mirrors. I don't wash them off until he is coming back to my house and then he can leave fresh ones. I love to walk by the door and see those fingerprints after he has gone back to his house. As a matter of fact our living room furniture is that chocolate brown micro suede or microfiber (or whatever it is called) and yesterday I noticed some little toe prints on the side off my chair. Anyway...Rudy - Austin's dog that died last Sunday, always kept our back door so dirty. He would get in our swimming pool and then walk over to the door and rub his wet self all over the glass. There wasn't any sense in cleaning it because he did it several times a day. When I would clean the door he would start licking it. Well - today I decided it was time to clean the door so I got the window cleaner and wash cloth and started for the back door but the tears started coming and I just couldn't do it. I got Robert to do it for me. It has been such a sad week without Rudy here to greet us when we get home or just to watch him playing in the swimming pool or goofing around with Austin.

Award

I have been recognized for my achievements from my friend, Patti. Yes - I definitely belong in Blogger's Anonymous. hee hee

Our sweet baby granddaughter is 3 months old

Rainey is 3 months old today. She is so precious!! She laughs (only for her mommy) and tries so hard to talk. She really works that tongue to make noises. She rolls to her side and then gets distracted by her fist which she tries to put in her mouth. She loves her big brother, Chandler and she likes to watch TV with him and big brother loves that baby sister.

T is for tired!!!

I started back to work on Monday and I am worn out. That long Christmas break did me in. Or maybe I am a little down because my babies all left- except for Austin but he spends more time with friends than he does at home.

Chandler always wants me to come to his house and stay a long time. He makes up numbers such as 15-60-100 days. He made up a bunch of numbers today and Kylie said I might as well retire because I won't ever be going home according to Chandler.

Tribute to Rudy

Sad days at the Taylor household.
Austin's pet,Rudy,he treated as gold.
We came home last evening and I went to his pen thus,
to find that he was no longer with us. :(

We gave Austin a chocolate lab for graduation. He was only 6 weeks old. Austin thought for several days, trying to decide on a good name for him and finally settled on Rudy. He was such a sweetheart and he and Austin had the best time playing together. During the summer when Chandler was here, Rudy followed him on his tractor many laps around the swimming pool.

When Rudy was a little puppy he would sleep with his head on the peddle of Chandler's tractor. Actually the tractor was Austin's when he was a little boy.

Rudy grew and grew and was so smart. Austin taught him to shake, sit, stay, kennel (which meant go to the pen) and fetch. He loved to go get whatever we threw out- balls, paint roller, sticks, etc. When Austin would come home from school or work he would pick big old Rudy up like a baby. They chased each other, wrestled around on the ground and swam in the pool. As Rudy got older he started getting in the swimming pool on his own, just to cool off and get a drink. He loved to be with us and learned how to get the back door open and come in the house. As a matter of fact, while Robert and I were gone one weekend and Austin was at work Rudy came in and proceeded to tear up some of my fall decorations. Austin had not locked the back door when he left. Actually it could have been so much worse. He only tore the straw hat off of a scarecrow that I had sitting on the fireplace. Sometimes Austin would sneak Rudy in at night and let him sleep on the bed with him. One morning I was about to head to school and I stepped out the back door to check on Rudy. I called and called and he didn't come. I opened the door to Austin's room to tell him that he needed to get up and find Rudy. It was dark in Austin's room and as I pushed the door open I heard this thump-thump-thump and realized ole Rudy was on the bed wagging his tail at me. Austin said Rudy was lonely outside or sometimes he would say it was too cold. Rudy was 7 months old and he was huge. Austin was at work when I found Rudy yesterday so Robert and I told him when he got home. It was so sad. Austin went to the bathroom and cried and cried which made it hurt so much more. You know how bad it hurts you when your child is hurting.

Turn out the lights, the party's over

Well...it is back to the grind. The Christmas decorations have been put back in the attic and the children have all gone back home so it is pretty quiet around here. When Chandler started to leave, he said, "Granna, come to my house in 3 days." He is just so precious. I talked to him on the phone earlier this evening. They were about to watch a movie and after he had me guess which one-I guessed about 10-15 and none of them was the one he was going to watch-he finally told me he was watching Balto. Then I told him that I missed him so much and he said, "Granna, do you kiss my lips on my picture when I am not there?" I told him that indeed I do kiss his picture when he is not here. He said, "No, do you kiss my lips on my picture?" Well, of course I do.
