23, 22, 21 . . .

The countdown is on!!! 21 school days left!! Yep - that is all!!! Actually this year has passed rather quickly. We are finishing up TAKS testing this week and then we will finish up course work and a reading project the last 4 weeks. They always throw in a talent show, field day, band program and awards assembly so those activites will take up some time. We went on a field trip today and I am glad that is over!! Actually it wasn't so bad but the 1 1/2 hour drive each way on a yellow dog with 60 fifth graders is pretty exhausting. We went to the East Texas Oil Museum. It was pretty interesting and the kids were pretty well behaved. I bought my grandson some "rattlesnake eggs" at the gift shop and I can't wait to give them to him! LOL

I am afraid that the summer vacation will pass quickly as well. We will have Camp Granna, move Steven and Kylie and will help Chuck and Britni move ONE more time!!! We have moved them about 10 times during their married life but that is a whole other post!!!

Who likes broccoli????

Well, I do if it is blond and blue-eyed. :) I went to see Chandler's little kindergarten music program on Thursday evening.

Yes - I drove an hour and 15 minutes each way to watch his class do one song. So what??? I didn't get a very good picture of the precious broccoli because he stood up and then sat down so quickly.

The program was about going to Grandpa's Farm and each class did something different. One of the classes was dressed as different animals. Another class did a song about chickens. Chandler's class was all about the vegetables. At the end of the program, they sang their school song - Bulldog Boogie. They have Bulldog Boogie every Friday morning and I think they really get into it!!

One of his friends mentioned going to Ci Ci's Pizza after the program and Chandler wasn't very happy because they weren't going.

Here is Chandler and a couple of his best buds. Aren't they cute!!

The program was pretty cute and I am glad I went.

Weekend Report

We had a great time this weekend in spite of the rain. Britni, Chandler, Rainey and I headed south about 5:00 a.m. Friday morning. We got to our destination a little after 9 and headed to our favorite breakfast spot - Kolache Rolfe's - for breakfast. They have the best kolaches!!

After that we hit the first tent sale. If you don't' know what that is - they put up a huge tent and sell Aggie stuff - shirts, shorts, caps, cups, and lots of other stuff!!

While under the tent it really began to rain so we hurried and made our purchases and ran to the car. We left there and headed to Aggie Moms' Boutique. We shopped around in there for a couple of hours. It was pouring down rain when we started to leave and we were all soaked by the time we got to the car. We went to mine and Chandler's all-time favorite - Raising Cane's for lunch and then headed to the mall. Britni found this precious outfit for Rainey. It is so cute- even if you are not an Aggie fan!! We found Chandler some Aggie t-shirts since he is outgrowing his others.

We left the mall and made a couple of other stops before leaving town and heading to Steven and Kylie's. We spent the remainder of the weekend there just enjoying being together. Steven had a science thing at his school on Saturday and one of the activities was making oobleck. When he got home he made some for Chandler. Chandler and Rainey had fun playing in it and it was fun watching them.

Britni had a little school work as well so Rainey helped her grade papers. Are Rainey's legs long or what??

Here are my girls - of course they will not like this picture but I think they are beautiful!!

Chandler had fun playing video games with Steven and Kylie. And Britni's children are so sweet. They don't forget to floss . . . (LOL)

. . . and they always say their prayers!! Silly kids!!

We had a great time!!

Whoop!!

Britni, Chandler, Rainey and I are headed south for the weekend. We will stop in at A&M. It is Parents' Weekend and we are headed to the Aggie Moms' Boutique. You can find everything imaginable in maroon and white. Aggie Moms' clubs from all over come and fill up Reed arena with their goodies to sell. We will make a few other stops including mine and Chandler's all time favorite - Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers!! Yum!! Anyway . . .then we will head on to Kylie and Steven's for the remainder of the weekend. Chandler was 18 months when they moved to College Station and he was 5 when they left so he grew up in all that Aggie-ness. We have been working on Rainey. The students at A&M have yells for each class called "wildcats" so we have taught Rainey the freshman wildcat and she is pretty good. The freshman hold both arms up and yell a continuous "A". We have also taught her to say gig 'em - with her thumb up of course - and Whoop!! This is Rainey doing the freshman wildcat!! :)

I will be back on Sunday with pictures from the south!!

Fun Times

It was a great weekend. Since we didn't have school on Friday I decided to do a little light cleaning Friday morning and head to see the grandbabies that afternoon. We had projects we needed to do together. While cleaning on Friday morning I got a phone call from Kylie saying they were coming home for the weekend. She and Steven both had interviews lined up for today. I was glad that I had already done some cleaning.

I got to Chandler and Rainey's about the middle of the afternoon. They had dyed some eggs and Chandler was ready to decorate. After we decorated a few eggs we needed to run to Target.

When we got back Chandler and I started on project number 1. We were going to make Easter cookies. You know - the ones where you read bible verses along with each step and then put them in the oven over night. When Chandler got up on Saturday morning he headed straight to the oven to check the cookies.

Yes, Easter cookies for breakfast. Why not??

Project number 2 were "bird nests". Chandler thought those were pretty cool and when no one was watching, Rainey helped herself to the eggs.

Chandler had a baseball game on Saturday morning. His first at bat he hit the ball well and straight past the pitcher. He made it to first. The next player hit and Chandler got to 3rd. The next batter hit and Chandler scored!! Those little ones are pretty cute. Chandler is using Uncle Austin's bat from when he played t-ball. Britni says she has tried to get Chandler to use his own bat but he keeps putting Austin's bat in his bag to use at the games.

Rainey rooting for big brother! Yeah right-

Is this not the sweetest picture of my precious grandson??!!

I headed back home after the game making a couple of stops along the way. Steven and Kylie made it later in the evening. We went to church on Sunday morning, came home and had lunch and then Kylie and I looked through some picture albums. We laughed a lot!! My sister came by for a bit and then it was time for Kylie and Steven to leave. They went to Chuck and Britni's to spend the night. Their interviews went well so please pray that something will work out!! Hopefully they will know something soon!!

Unending love - Happy Easter

He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead; and, behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him: lo, I have told you. And they departed quickly from the sepulchre with fear and great joy; and did run to bring his disciples word. And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, All hail. And they came and held him by the feet, and worshipped him. Then said Jesus unto them, Be not afraid: go tell my brethren that they go into Galilee, and there shall they see me.
Bible: Matthew, 28. 6

For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: ' The righteous will live by faith' (Romans 1:16-17).

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith -- and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God -- not by works so that no one can boast (Ephesians 28-9).

He is risen indeed!!

Amazing Grace

Jesus paid a debt He did not owe because I owed a debt I could not pay. Thank you, Jesus

Life is just a bowl of cherries - or is it???

Bet you didn't realize that there are so many uses for the plain old every day bowl. Well, Rainey has helped us to recognize the many facets of the bowl. Of course you can use it for cereal, vienna weiners, and green beans.

Once you are done with the food that is in the bowl - you can always use it to phone a friend.

And it makes a nice hat if you are going outdoors!!

Never a dull moment around this place - and yes, life is a bowl of sweet cherries when my precious grandkids are around!!

Ode to Flat Stanley

Where is Flat Stanley??

We have been looking for our cat - which Chandler named Flat Stanley - after a character in a book that he likes. Well . . .Flat Stanley lived up to his name. He didn't make it across 37. :(

Fast and Furious

Kylie and Steven came in Friday. Kylie had an interview and Steven went to a job fair on Saturday. It was a quick trip for them as they had to go back Saturday evening. Kylie had a clinical on Sunday.

Doesn't Steven look handsome? Kylie was being silly because she still had her pjs on and no make up!!

The little ones tried to make the most of their time with KyKy. Chandler kept KyKy busy playing cars . . .

. . . and trains.

So Rainey entertained herself by climbing into her shopping cart . . .

. . .playing with her sunglasses and . . .

. . . taking care of her baby. She first hugs it, pats its little back . . .

. . . and then gives it a night night kiss.
