Had breakfast and then walked around the ship and took pics of some areas we had not photographed before. There were all sorts of areas on the ship to sit and relax or watch the scenery outside.
There was also a gift shop, a jewelry shop,
library/technology area,
basketball court on one side and a tennis court on the other side.
For those of us who lost track of time and couldn't remember what day it was - they put rugs in the elevators with the name of the day.
Robert decided to exercise by walking around Deck 3 (3 trips around was 1 mile). I wanted to read so I took my book to the crow's nest . . .
but it was full so I went to the Lido Deck.
We were headed to Hubbard Glacier and were supposed to be there around 1 p.m. After Robert got his exercise in we went to our balcony and watched the approach to the glacier.
We saw lots of seals and the view of the glacier was amazing. The ship eased extremely close to the glacier - all up in the frigid waters with glacier chunks all around. Tried not to panic even though it looked like the icy waters that the Titanic was in!!
We were there for 2-3 hours. The glacier was 7 miles wide, 80-90 miles long and 300 feet high. We saw many chunks fall which is called "calving" and when the glacier calved it sounded like a huge thunderstorm. It was pretty spectacular and we took tons of pictures.
Once they turned the ship around to leave we went to our room and took a nap. Then got up and went to eat dinner. We headed to bed a little after 10 p.m. and it was still daylight!! And the sun has been rising about 4:20 a.m.
Our towel creature tonight! So cute. They left it hanging in the room the remainder of the time we were there.
