Spring Break - entry #4

On Saturday we took the children to Kitefest.  They started this community event in our little town last year.  There are all kinds of kites to see and fly and activities for the kids, as well as food and vendors selling different things.

Spring Break - entry #3

On Friday we played around the house and did a few experiments.  First we made "elephant toothpaste".  It involves yeast, hydrogen peroxide, dish soap and food coloring. 

 

 

 

 

They thought it was pretty cool when the "toothpaste" came oozing up out of the bottle.

Next we did what Chandler called "volcano balloons".  We inflated balloons without helium.  This involved vinegar and soda. 



 

I put a little too much vinegar and soda in Rainey's first balloon and it blew up so she was quite skiddish after that and wanted Grandad to help her the next time. 

 

 

 

Next Grandad helped Chandler and Rainey in building firetrucks. 

 

 

Kinsler finally got to come with his parents.  That night his mommy made him try some peas for dinner. 

 

 

He didn't really like them!!!

Spring Break - entry #2

After the zoo trip I brought Chandler and Rainey home with me for a few days.  On Thursday, I took them to see the glass bathrooms.  Yep - that's right - glass bathrooms!!  They thought it was pretty cool but didn't think they wanted to use the facilities! 

 

From the outside it looks like a big mirror.

 

 

 

 

When you are on the inside looking out you can see everything clearly and it appears that everyone can see in.  Pretty freaky!!  In these pics we were all on the inside looking out. 

In this pic, Rainey and Chandler were on the outside and I was on the inside taking the picture. 

 



 

 

Chandler and Rainey played a little chess on the giant chessboard. 

 

 They have redone the downtown area of Sulphur Springs and it looks really nice.  I believe they have remodeled the court house inside. 

 

After checking out the glass bathrooms and the downtown area we headed out to Kid's  Kingdom Park.  Chandler and Rainey had a blast. 

 

I had to bribe them with ice cream from Braum's to get them to leave the park.  :)

 

I love these two!!  What a fun day!!!

 

Spring Break - entry #1

 

 

On Tuesday, March 12 we decided to take the grands to the zoo.  I had not been to the zoo since my children were little!!! Kylie got us discounted tickets through her work.  Nice!! 

 

 

Chandler and Rainey couldn't wait to get there!!

 

 

I love to see the animals in real life because their colorings and markings are so vivid.  It is amazing to see their sizes and how they react to each other and their surroundings and to zoo visitors. 

 

 

 

Up close and personal with the giraffes!!  It was pretty cool being that close and the kids had fun feeding them!
