Camp Granna - day 3

**Warning - very lengthy and lots of photos! **

It's Carnival Day at Camp Granna!! I have been working on this day for a couple of weeks and had planned to do it the last day of camp but I decided that Saturday sounded more like a carnival day than Monday. After I  decided on carnival games, Robert and I made a couple of trips to Lowes to get  cardboard for my backdrops.  I was thinking about games and trying to come up with games that I had supplies for at home or could recycle.   Once I completed each game and backdrop, I put them in the laundry room for easy access on carnival day.   I had everything in the laundry room covered and Rainey has been dying to see what it was that was hidden.  I got up later than I planned and began setting everything up.  It took longer than I had anticipated due to the number of games and tables that were needed and the wind was messing with my backdrops.

One station was Bean Bag Toss.  I made the bean bags using some Coca Cola fabric that I had on hand and lentils.  The bean bag board was a shelf that I had removed from
my laundry room.  Robert drilled the holes and I painted it.

Another station was Ping Pong Toss where I hot glued cups in a paper box lid and the kids tried to toss ping pong balls into the cups.

We also had Football Throw.  I used Austin's old practice catcher and his footballs.

Another station was the Baseball/Softball Toss.  I had an old milk can that my dad had in his dairy farming days.  I used Austin's baseballs and Kylie's softball.

Krazy Kans was another station and I used empty vegetable cans and covered them with scrapbooking paper that I had on hand.  I obviously don't have time to do any scrapbooking so I thought I might as well get some use out of the paper!!  I also used a set of empty Coke, Dr. Pepper and 7-Up cans. The kids used whiffle balls to try to knock down the cans.

We had a duck pond where the kids picked a duck to see how many tickets they won.  Each duck had a different number on it as to the amount of tickets won.

Another station was the Shooting Range.  I hot glued a Styrofoam brick onto a piece of wood and then inserted some of Robert's golf tees.  Then I placed ping pong balls on the golf tees and the kids used water guns to try to knock the ping pong balls off of the golf tees.

We had a Guessing  Game Station where the kids had to guess the amount of cookies in a jar.  The one with the closest estimation won the jar of cookies.

Kylie guessed closest to the correct number so she won the jar of animal crackers!

For the Ring Toss Station I used an old Coke crate that I had already and some different sized coke bottles.  The kids had to toss old canning rings onto the coke bottles to earn tickets.

We also had a Photo Booth so the kids could take crazy pictures!!

There was also a concession stand which included peanuts, Cracker Jacks, Tootsie Roll Pops, animal crackers, cotton candy and snow cones.

After they had played all the games several times and earned lots of tickets and ate lots of junk food, we went inside so they could cash in the tickets for the prizes.

I think they had fun at the carnival even though Rainey informed me that it wasn't a real carnival.  At least I had fun watching them play!!

I grilled hamburgers for lunch and then Harrison and Kinsler took a nap while everyone else got in the swimming pool.

My sister, Ann came later in the afternoon and brought some quail eggs.  She had some that she boiled just like chicken eggs and she said they tasted about the same.  She thought the kids might like to try some quail.  They are pretty cool looking!!

This evening we met my other sister, Barbara and her husband, Tim for a concert and fireworks.  The concert was really good and we always enjoy fireworks!!!

Harrison really liked the music!! He would watch and listen and the clap after each song!

When it started getting dark, I gave the kids some light up sticks and they had fun playing with those.

It was a very busy day at Camp Granna but it was full of making memories!!
