Johnson Baby Nursery

Britni had her mind set on a theme for the baby's nursery but didn't want to spend the huge amount of money that people were charging to make bedding and she couldn't find exactly what she wanted, so she decided that we could make it.  We set aside a week to work only on the nursery.  She designed, planned and calculated and got all the material ordered that she couldn't find at local fabric stores.  Then she gathered thread, rick rack and forms for the bumper pad.

I love all the colors and it is going to be so fun!!
I had made the bed skirt and curtains for Harrison's nursery so I was pretty sure I could handle those things but I wasn't so sure about the bumper pad and then Britni started talking about crib sheets and boppy covers.  Oh my!!
We had fun cutting, measuring, sewing, ripping out stitches and sewing again - and laughing a lot!!!  I think the bedding and curtains turned out really cute and can't wait for baby Kinsler to arrive and get to use his newly remodeled room!!
As you can tell by a couple of fabrics - the theme is sock monkey.  Britni has always loved sock monkeys so her heart was set on this for Kinsler's nursery.  Rainey was playing with my phone while we were working and snapped a couple of pictures.  :)

I planned to start with something easy like the curtain to hide all the diapers under the changing table and the valance for the window but ended up doing these last.

Britni had Chuck add this cute lantern lamp over the changing table and she has some finishing touches to add to this area.

While I was working on the bed skirt, Britni made two crib sheets - one out of red sock monkey print and one with cream sock monkey print.  Both are so cute!!!  I was nervous about doing the bumper pad because I've never made one before.  We looked for red piping but couldn't find any that was big enough or that was the right shade of red so we made our own.

Britni also made two boppy covers that were super cute.

Britni made this cute wall hanging with Kinsler's initials out of leftover fabric.  So cute!!

This is the dresser.  We didn't make anything in this pic but I wanted to add it to this post.  Britni found the cute little sock monkey Easter basket in the center.  The stack of clothes on the end are going in Kinsler's diaper bag to be ready to take to the hospital.

Britni found a wood piece on Etsy with a sock monkey painted on it and she really wanted it for the nursery.  I decided that surely I could make it for less than the $88 price tag on Etsy.  I had some old barn wood that I had gotten from my brother and I found the right paint colors at Hobby Lobby.  I thought it turned out pretty cute and I think Britni likes it!!

And here is the whole bed - bumper pad, crib sheet and bed skirt all complete and ready for baby!!!

How cute is this!!!  Britni found the vinyl lettering and monkeys on Etsy.  I think it just makes the room complete!!

I am so glad I got to spend the week with Britni working on baby Kinsler's nursery.  We had a good time working together and as an added bonus - I got to play with Chandler and Rainey during the week and with Harrison a few times during the week as well!!

Since I had been gone all week - hubby came on Thursday evening.  We played outside with the kids and visited.  On Friday we went to Britni's school to help her get her classroom furniture arranged and a few other things done.  Not much longer now!!!

I love it! I need to ask Britni about how to make the boppy covers!
