Whirlwind Weekend

I left on Thursday headed to see my baby girl.

Due to recent storm, she and hubby are still not able to live in their apartment. Workers have removed all of the carpet and most of the sheet rock from the walls and ceilings. They were told this would take a week. Right!!! However, this weekend we got to stay in the model apartment- you know they always have one fixed up really nice to show prospective tenants. My son-in-law begged for anything for us to stay in this weekend and they put us in the model apartment. Now I am not understanding why they are not letting my babies stay there until their apartment is repaired??!!

Anyway...I had a nice visit with the kids. I went with baby girl to school on Friday and got to see where she spends her time and how she gets there.

Baby girl drives to the bus stop and catches the bus to her school. She had a test that morning so I took a book to read while she took her test. After that she had some errands to run around the school area. Then we took the rail to the bus stop to head back to the apartment.

I enjoyed meeting her friends and taking the actual route that she takes when she goes in to school - including the bus and rail. We saw some interesting characters on the way and at one point I was nearly run over by a blind man. Baby girl had to check on something at the bus station and we were standing in line when all of a sudden someone bumped into me. For a split second I thought it was someone that knew me and I was thinking what a coincidence. Then I turned and saw the white stick. He thought he was following his people and they had turned to go through a door and left him so I headed him in the right direction.

We got back to the apartment and decided we needed a nap. It was a long morning and we had stayed up a little too late talking the night before. After a brief 3 hour nap (LOL) we got ready to go to her in-laws for supper. Mother-in-law had made stuffed bell peppers and they were really good!!!

On Saturday morning we went to meet firstborn and son-in-law-1. They were going to a football game and I was bringing the grandbabies home with me. Baby girl, son-in-law, grandbabies and I went to eat at mine and grandson's all time favorite - Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers and then did a little bit of shopping before heading home. It was hard to leave baby girl and son-in-law because of their living arrangements. Luckily they do have a place to stay. If it weren't for the in-laws, I don't know what they would do. I don't know what other people in the area are doing who don't have somewhere to go.

We got some cute pictures of the grandbabies on Sunday before they left.

Brother must have told something really funny!!!

The rocking chair was mine when I was a little girl. Little miss climber didn't want to sit in the rocking chair - she prefers to stand!! She climbs on everything.

I thought this was sweet of the grandbabies!!

Big brother is so good with baby sister. Last weekend baby sister fell at the sitters when she and the sitter's 19 month old daughter were pushing a chair and big brother said he was going to go over there and knock her down. So protective!!

Jobs. . .

I really don't feel this way about my job. I just thought this was pretty funny!!

Speaking of jobs. . . my son-in-law, Steven has been out all week due to Ike!! Kylie's nursing school also cancelled everything for this week. Steven and Kylie's apartment suffered water damage and power outage. Luckily Steven's parents' power came back on Saturday afternoon so they at least had a cool place to go. Their apartment is unliveable at this point. Workers pulled out all of the carpet and were supposed to start today on removing the sheet rock. It is a big mess and will take a while to get settled.

Soccer

Okay - so I am trying to get caught up in one day!! We went to see Chandler play his first soccer game of this season a week ago. He really got after it and seemed to know a little bit better what to do this year.

What a kick!! Go Chandler!!

He celebrated after every score his team made!!! He was proud of his team. So precious!!

After the game we all came back here. Chuck and Chandler were going dove hunting and Britni and Rainey hung out at our house and then spent the night. Since their yard is not big enough for their swing set, we set it up in our yard. The kids and I spent some time outside enjoying the afternoon.

11 months old

Our precious granddaughter was 11 months old on September 11 and I have gotten behind in posting so I am just now getting to it!! She has been such a blessing. She is walking and "talking" (her version). It is hard to believe that she has been here for 11 months.

Camp Granna 2008 comes to an end.

Well, we ended Camp Granna with a trip to a Rangers' game and a visit from Kylie.

Kylie was to meet us in Wylie on Saturday. Saturday evening Britni wanted us to go to a place to eat that she had heard about or had been to or whatever. I can't even remember the name of it (maybe Babe's Chicken or something) but it was really good. You order your choice of meat from roast beef, chicken strips, fried chicken, chicken fried steak and fried catfish. Then you get unlimited refills on all the vegetables which included creamed potatoes, french fries, corn, green beans, baked beans, cole slaw, cornbread, and biscuits. It was so good and we left there stuffed.

On Sunday we went to Chuck and Britni's church and then visited afterwards until time to go to the game. We had a great time and Chandler was amazed at the size of the field and the whole experience.

Rainey's 1st Rangers t-shirt. So sweet!!

Hey Austin- the game is going on!!

At one point Rainey started making a silly face. We got so tickled and of course the more we laughed the more she did it!! Silly girl!

But the best part of the game was the nachos and peanuts and hot dogs. Oh my!!

Chandler and Aunt KyKy had a chance to do some baking together. They made some cookies using my mother's tea cake recipe.

Mmm mmm good!!

Camp Granna - same time next year!!

Camp Granna Day 4

After spending the night and visiting Mommy and Daddy, we headed back. We made a couple of stops along the way. First we stopped at Mary of Puddin Hill.

Chandler thought the carousel made of all chocolate was pretty cool and the chocolate doll house. Of course he wanted to touch them and even though the sign said do not touch, I thought it wouldn't hurt just to touch the chocolate grass. People shouldn't make stuff that can't be touched by inquisitive little ones!!

Before leaving I let Chandler pick anything he wanted from the array of chocolate confections and he chose a chocolate dipped Oreo and he thought it was wonderful.

We had one more stop to make before we got home - Kids' Kingdom. We stopped at the park for a picnic lunch and play time!!

We had a good time and Chandler was worn out from all the running and jumping and playing. We stopped by Sonic for a Hi-C Punch and headed home.

Camp Granna Day 3

By now the kids' mommy was whining about missing her babies so we took a trip to see her. On the way we stopped by the Dairy Museum . We stopped to watch this little guy first.

His name is Cal C. Um and Chandler pushed the button and he started riding the bike. It kind of startled him when the skeleton started to move but then it started talking. Chandler QUICKLY moved over beside me and would not go back up to the window. It was so funny!!

Chandler had fun with the stamps. They all had to do with farming which Chandler loves!!

This exhibit tells the path that food takes once the cow eats it and each section lights up as it is being described.

After looking at all of the exhibits we had to get some ice cream. Chocolate, of course, is Chandler's favorite and Rainey has no preference!!

After the ice cream break we went outside and took a few more pictures before we left.

Chandler wanted me to take a picture of the backside of the cows and I asked him why. He said he wanted to show Aunt KyKy. Kylie was coming in at the end of the week and he just wanted to show her the backside!!

Camp Granna Day 2

On Day 2- Granna had to go to a workshop so Chandler and Rainey hung out with Grandad. They watched movies, swam, and played games on the Wii and had a great day.

We are headed out this morning to go watch Chandler play soccer!! His first game of the season.

Boys!!! Gotta love 'em!!

I just had to add this little funny!! I was talking to Chandler a while ago and he said, "Granna, Rainey walked from the couch all the way to the chair." I said, "Oh my goodness.Really??" He said, "I am not joking." Then he said, "This boy on my soccer team tooted on his arm pit." And he just snickered!! I asked Chandler if he tried it and he said he couldn't do it. I just told him to keep practicing. LOL

Camp Granna Day 1

Camp Granna - my favorite week of the year!! We decided make use of points of interest in town so we took the kids to the musuem.

I thought Chandler would like to see all of the bird eggs and butterflies. He did think it was pretty cool that there were so many eggs and that there are birds that lay huge eggs and birds that lay tiny eggs.

Then the butterflies are all different sizes and colors.

Chandler liked the sports displays in the Don Meredith exhibit. Chandler's daddy and Aunt KyKy received the Meredith scholarship which was awesome. They have a plaque displayed with all of the scholarhip recipients names and Chandler was pointing to his daddy's name.

After the museum we went across the street to see the fountain and statues.

We decided to meet Austin for lunch at Chandler's choice - Dairy Queen. Lunch is always kids' chicken strips with Ranch Dressing!! There is a coupon on the bag for a free ice cream sandwich or whatever so Grandad went with Chandler to get his treat. He had been saying that he wanted the ice cream sandwich but when he got to the counter he told Jessica that he wanted an Oreo Blizzard (which does not come with the free coupon), but Jessica is so sweet and she couldn't resist those big blue eyes so she put ice cream in a dish and crumbled Oreos on top and Chandler loved it!!

Next we went to the school. Chandler always likes to go to the "musical park". That's what he calls it. So we had fun playing all the instruments. Baby sister says I'll be playing them next year!!

Even Grandad got in on the music!!

We had a great time with the babies!!
