Austin update

I think Austin is going to survive the wisdom teeth ordeal. He has not had any real trouble since he passed out on me. He was having a little pain in one area last night and I hope that is all better today!! His good friends, Hayden and Neil came out to check on him and his super co-workers, Paul, Valerie and Reese all asked about him. On Saturday after his surgery, I told Austin that he could get in the pool but he couldn't overdo it. I went to check on him and Chandler and I found that he had wrestled Olsen around until he got him on the inner tube with him.

Austin took vacation this week. He is helping with vacation bible school at our church. He takes Chandler with him and they have a great time. Chandler wants to be wherever Austin is. Chandler came home yesterday and said, "Austin, is a real good coach." Austin is doing the recreation for bible school.

9-1-1 What's your emergency?

Okay- so my husband has been gone almost 3 weeks on an Alaskan cruise with his mother, sister and brother-in-law. However-I told him when he called last week that this will never happen again!! We have never been apart for this long and yes he sometimes gets on my nerves and I probably get on his every now and then but seriously- that is way too long!! So-I have been babysitting the grandkids while my daughter works this summer and she and her husband are about to move and they have been searching for housing and a job for Chuck and such. This has been a stressful summer for all of us. (How silly of me to think that the beginning of the year was stressful with a new grandbaby, graduation and a wedding) Well-not for Robert because he is having a great time and I am glad that he is getting to spend this time with his mother. Really! This week Britni had a workshop on Monday and then again on Thursday and Friday so it was just me and the grandkids and Austin. Austin got his wisdom teeth extracted on Thursday and that is when all H _ _ _ broke loose. The surgery went well but of course I had to take Chandler and Rainey with us because you know-everyone else is out of town. I got Austin home without incident and got him to bed. I knew he would sleep for a while. Well after about an hour and a half he opened his door. There was blood everywhere!! That scared me. I ushered him to the bathroom so we could change the gauze. He spit the old gauze out and was waiting for me to roll up the fresh piece when all of a sudden he headed for the mirror/wall. At first I thought he was feeling weak and was just leaning over to brace himself when I realized he was passing out. It scared me so bad because his eyes were open and he was stiff- almost seizure like and he was not responding to me screaming his name. Of course the little ones were in the room as well which made it worse. I was trying to get Austin to the floor without much damage and at that point I had not felt more alone!! The phone was right there where I got him on the floor and I just grabbed it and dialed 911. I didn't know what else to do. Austin was soooo white and I was soooo scared. The EMTs came right out and checked his vitals and felt that he would be okay. Austin had tubes put in his ears when he was 7 months and that is the only surgery he has ever had. So we figured the Novocaine (mispelled I am sure) and the blood loss and the stress of the surgery all combined to cause the blackout. After the scare was over poor Chandler said "Granna my tummy hurts" and I said mine too. I asked him if that scared him and he said "no but you shouldn't have had Austin's wisdom teeth cut out today." Several times that day he repeated to me that I shouldn't have had that done to Austin. So I plan to have a good cry whenever I can pencil in a time to do it. And my husband should be home on Monday. I told him I deserve something BIG after the time I have had!!

This was one of the best days of my life, for today(July 21) is our oldest daughter's birthday. God gave us such a wonderful gift that we did not deserve - a beautiful baby girl. Last week my sister, Barbara brought her 4 grandkids, Jacob, Audrey, Alli and Addi over to swim with Chandler and Rainey. I also invited my nephew, Dylan and Austin's friend Cari came too. They all seemed to have a good time and my sister and I had a chance to visit.

Moody Monday

Okay- so I usually tell you all about my precious husband, kids and/or grandkids but today I have a concern. If you know anything about me you know that I love that good crunchy ice that we get at the Sonic and now our Dairy Queen has it as well as other places!! It makes the coke taste so much better. :) Okay - so is it too much to ask that the coke not be dripping down the side of the cup when they hand it to me?? Some places actually do wipe it off so I am not talking about all places. But seriously, it would only take a second to wipe it off-it actually takes me more than a second because I have to dig around in my console to find a napkin first. So - I think if they would just take a second to wipe off the cup before they hand it to the customer- that would just mean so much - you know just good PR - and just a small thing to make a valued customer like me happy!! Thanks for letting me get that off my chest!!

Nine months old - YIKES!! Where did the time go...

Nine months in your mommy's tummy
Seemed so long and not much funny :) (I know that line is cheesy)
I can't believe you are now nine months
You are such a joy and do funny stunts.

Okay- so I am not a poet but I thought I would give you readers a giggle!!

But yes - the Princess is 9 months old. Such a little glamour girl.

I told her mommy yesterday that the 9 months we were waiting for her to be born drug by so slowly and her first nine months out of the womb has flown by so quickly. She is such a joy and we are so blessed to have such a beautiful, healthy baby. It has been so much fun watching her learning new things and amazing to see how she recognizes things. When the phone rings she makes a noise that resembles hello. When she sees our dog, Olsen, she says "O".

She and her brother are crazy about each other. They will even wear mohawks together. LOL He is so protective. If she is not in the room he wants to know where she is and yesterday she was already down for a nap when he woke up. He wanted to wake her up and I wouldn't let him. He said, "But I haven't seen her for a long time." He can make her laugh and she gets all excited and kicks her legs when she sees him. So sweet!!

Olsen

Olsen (named after the Fightin' Texas Aggie baseball field - WHOOP!!) is Austin's 5 month old Lab puppy! Yes I said puppy but he is big! We got him after Austin's first lab, Rudy, died. That was a sad story indeed. But Olsen has been fun and has helped fill the void. Austin wrestles him around and has tried to sneak him in the house a time or two and pushes him in the swimming pool. Olsen has followed Chandler around all summer! Chandler sits on him, pulls his tail, bosses him around and Olsen just loves the attention. He really is a sweet dog even if my husband says he chews too much. Chandler heads out in the yard and says-come on Olsen and Olsen dutifully tags along.

How to plant a chicken...

Chandler has been wanting to plant a garden even though Grandad already has one with everything from squash and tomatoes to cucumbers and peas. I asked him what he wanted to plant and he said "A chicken." I told him that wasn't possible but I don't think he believed me. We went to the store one day and he picked out some seeds- carrots and broccoli. I don't think he will eat either one of those but that's about all they had at Alco that Grandad had not already planted.

Here is my sweet grandson planting his carrots and broccoli.

Chandler and Grandad tamping the soil down on the seeds!

Chandler and Grandad pulling weeds.

Now we wait for the veggies to grow.

God Bless America!!!

Thank you to all of the men and women who fought in past wars and those who are still fighting today for America's freedom. God bless you all!!

We spent the day enjoying time with family. My mother-in-law, Jeanell and my brother-in-law, Dale came up on Thursday to visit for a few days. Robert fixed pancakes this morning and then we were in the pool by 10:30 or so. We played in the pool for a couple of hours and then Chuck (son-in-law) grilled some burgers and hot dogs. Chuck's family came over after lunch and we all got back in the pool for the afternoon. It was just a nice relaxing day which we owe a major debt of gratitude to those who put their lives on the line daily for our freedom. My dad and father-in-law served in World War II and my nephew served during Dessert Storm. I truly thank God for those who are willing to sacrifice for our country.

Today marked my sister, Ann and her husband, Hugh's 43 wedding anniversary. Happy Anniversary!! I was in 1st grade I think when they got married and I was the flower girl!!
