Alaskan cruise - day 3 (Sunday, June 6)

We hit the open ocean at 1:00 a.m. and the ship was still rocking when I woke up the first time - 5:30 a.m. Ugh!! I had taken a pill for motion sickness the night before but when I woke up again at 7:30 a.m. I knew I needed more. Robert got ready for breakfast but I didn't think I could make it. Robert has no patience where motion sickness is concerned. He thinks it is all in my head and frankly - I don't understand why some people get it and others don't. When I finally threw my hair up in a ponytail (after trying for 2 hours to get ready) and went to try to eat breakfast there were people who looked like I felt and others who were just as chipper as Robert. I just don't get it. I took about 4 tiny bites of scrambled eggs and knew I had to get back to that bed!! Robert went to a couple of informational meetings and I took another pill and laid down. I slept for 4 hours and when I woke up I felt much better. We ate lunch and then sat on the Lido Deck and watched people and the scenery. It was beautiful. After a while we went back to the room for a nap and afterwards I felt like I just might survive after all!!

That evening we to dinner. It was formal night at the La Fontaine. Doesn't he look happy??!! Robert wouldn't cooperate or didn't think I was really goig to take a picture.






The food was really good. For dessert I got this cute little fruit swan. It was a pastry filled with chocolate mousse and garnished with strawberries. Yum!!



At 10 we went to the evening show. The singers performed some Broadway hits. They had all previously performed on Broadway and they were a very talented group. Yes - we went at 10 p.m. and the sun was still shining. We got to our room about 11:15 p.m. and the sun was still shining!! When we got back to our room, this little guy was waiting for us!! So cute!!

Alaskan cruise - day 2 (Saturday, June 5)

Got up and walked down to Denny's for breakfast. Left the hotel in my capris and sandals. Went back after breakfast and put on jeans and tennis shoes. It was cold in Seattle!! It was also sunny and very nice!





We caught a shuttle to the pier about 11:00 a.m. We wanted to get there early and get in line but they sent us on through baggage check and we only had to wait about 30 minutes before boarding the ship. It was huge - or at least that is what we thought until we looked on the other side of the dock and saw the Golden Princess ship and it was massive!!



We couldn't get into our room until 1:30 p.m. so we headed to the Lido Deck. We got lunch and listened to Laura and the HALcats by the pool. It was a pretty good little band!





Before long we were told that our rooms were ready so we took our stuff and dropped it off. I unpacked the carry on bags and then we sat on our balcony watching them load supplies, etc onto the ship.



Later on we had to go through a safety drill on deck by the lifeboats. Ours was lifeboat #9.



We then toured more of the ship and took more pics.















That evening we went to the La Fontaine for dinner. This was my appetizer.



This was Robert's dessert - Baked Alaska.



We went to a show that evening at the "Showroom at Sea".



It was pretty good but by this time the ship was rocking and I could feel some major motion sickness setting in so we headed to our cabin. These scrumptous chocolate covered strawberries were waiting for us in our room - a gift from our agent with Vacations to Go who booked the trip for us.

30 year anniversary -Alaskan cruise - day 1 (Friday, June 4)

We got up early on Friday, June 4th to get things rounded up. I tried to double check the luggage/packing as Robert did some outside work. Then Rainey and I ran to Brookshire's while Robert came inside to get ready. Of course no departure is complete unless you have several last minute errands - with a quick trip to Target/Wal-mart, of course. We finally headed to Wylie about 1:30 p.m. We arrived at Britni's in time to help her with some last minute preparations for a party she was hosting for some of her teacher friends. About 3:30 p.m. we headed to the airport. Kylie (and Rainey) went with us as Kylie was taking our car back so it wouldn't be left at the airport all week. We unloaded the Tahoe, said our goodbyes and headed to check in. We got in line and while we were waiting we noticed 3 different people go to a little computerized kiosk for baggage check and then checked in their luggage. We had already printed our boarding passes so after the the 3rd person used the self-check in then Robert decided to check it out. He got our luggage checked in and stepped to the side and called me over. As I was walking toward him, a lady said something like "are you special that you get to go ahead?" Now at this point we made no advancement toward the counter - just stepped out of line to the side. I honestly thought she was teasing. She didn't appear to be mad. Then I jokingly said, "I guess I am." Well . . .she then let me have it. She started saying stuff like "no line jumping" and "if we have to stand in line, everybody has to stand in line." Robert told her to go to the kiosk. She continued to rant and even used the BS word. We honestly did not think we were doing something wrong since 3 other people had gotten out of line and used the self-check in and nobody said a word to them. It made me sick at my stomach and I was just shaking after she cussed at us and called us line jumpers. :( Not a good start to this trip. I was just hoping that wasn't an omen for the remainder of the cruise. Yes - they were indeed on the same flight as ours!! Yikes!!

We eventually boarded the plane headed for Seattle. It was about a 4 hour flight and we landed safely in Seattle and caught the shuttle to our hotel. We got to bed about 10:30 p.m. (12:30 a.m. Texas time). So excited and ready to board the ship!!
