Woo hoo!! Opening day of Camp Granna! The campers started the day with sausage and homemade biscuits and gravy - the breakfast of champions. Well - anyway that is what I grew up on and my basketball team did win the state championship our senior year !! :)
After breakfast we loaded up the car for our Destination Day. Rainey was not totally on board. She didn't think we were doing Camp Granna stuff. We finally figured out that last year I had supplies in boxes. Each day we would open a box and do whatever was in the box. I have some cardboard pieces in the laundry room and because we were not using those - she thought we were not doing Camp Granna stuff. I finally convinced her that we were doing Camp Granna stuff and that the cardboard pieces would be used one day this week.
We finally got her back on board and headed to our first destination. Substitute camp counselor, Britni, had not seen the infamous glass bathrooms so she needed to experience that and we went there first. We checked out the bathrooms and the Veteran's Memorial wall which is impressive.
Our next destination was Kids Kingdom for a picnic lunch. The kids played for a short time but it was just too hot to play for very long so we headed to our next destination - bowling at Classic Lanes!
We enjoyed ice cream and some Facetime with Granddad who is visiting his mother and family.
Before leaving town we had to make a quick run through Wal-Mart for a few necessities. I determined that I left my list at home but Britni picked up her things. The only glitch in the day was when I backed into another vehicle in the parking lot. I had backed completely out of the parking space and was about to put the vehicle in drive to go forward. There was no damage to either vehicle however the other driver thought she needed to call the police in case the insurance needed a police report. She thought there was damage to her light. So whatever!! The office got there checked both vehicles and then asked for our DL and proof of insurance. I handed mine to him. The other driver said she didn't have her license. What????? She handed him a piece of paper and he asked her name. She looked at the paper and said, "They don't have my name listed on the insurance." What??????? But remember - she wanted to call the police!!! Anyway . . .
We headed back home afterwards and the kids headed straight for the pool. I, on the other hand, headed to Brookshire's to get the items I didn't get at Wal-Mart. Oh - and my list - yeah - it was in my purse the entire time I was at Wal-Mart and I just didn't realize it. Oh well . . .got the groceries and headed home. Got in the pool with the kids for a little bit. Came in for dinner, got everybody showered and to bed to rest up for Day 2. I think Day 1 was a success!!!

Then we let the kids play on the splash pad and they had a blast.
Chandler and Rainey had not been bowling before and we were not sure how this would work out. They both had a great time and were not ready to leave, but we did convince them when we told them the next destination - Braum's!!
Rainey was so excited when she got a spare!! And she did that more than once.
They had fun and both kids did really well for their first time bowling and Britni won!!
Kinsler did wake up in time to get some ice cream!!
