On Thursday, September 14th I had come home from
school and was just piddling around.
Robert headed up to watch the junior high football games and I decided
to eat a sandwich and see if there was anything interesting on TV. I had eaten half of my sandwich when I got a
frantic phone call from Britni. It
wasn’t unusual for her to call at that time of day and she wasn’t due for
another few weeks so I wasn’t expecting what I heard when I answered. She was crying as she said, “My water just
broke!” I tried to remain calm as I
jumped from my chair and threw my half eaten sandwich in the sink and ran for the
stairs. My bags had been semi-packed in
case I got “THE” call so I put the final items in my bags and began packing the car while I was talking to her. I
asked about Chuck and she said he wasn’t home from work yet but was on his way. I asked where Austin was and she replied that
he just left and was headed to his friend’s house. He was between cell phones so there was no
way to contact him. I mentioned that
Kylie was working and asked about Steven.
Britni said Chuck was supposed to call Steven to come over and stay with Chandler and Rainey. Finally I just told her that if she didn’t
think anyone was going to get there in time - then call 911. After I calmed her a bit – if a pregnant woman
whose water just broke can be at all calm – I told her I was on my way. I made a couple of more trips upstairs to get
clothes and such and then took off. I
called Robert and told him that I was on my way to the hospital – Kinsler
decided not to wait any longer!!
Even though things were moving quickly, I got to the hospital in plenty of time. Other family began to arrive and the wait was on. Britni had made up some Big Brother/Big Sister survival kits for Chandler and Rainey.
Even with survival kits, it is tiring work waiting on little brother to arrive.
But Kinsler Reed Johnson finally arrived at 1:56 a.m. weighing 6 lbs. 11 ozs. and measuring 18.9 inches long.
Big brother, Chandler meeting Kinsler for the first time. So sweet!!!
We were so glad to finally get to meet Kinsler.
