A little dishwashing and a little canning

Like all of the other children and grandchildren, Harrison loves to check out the dishwasher any time it is open!!! 

Such a happy boy!!!



We have been experimenting with some canning this summer.  This is my first experience at doing it by myself.   I watched my mother do it when I was growing up but Ive never had the desire to do it.  Robert has always wanted me to try it so I thought I would give it a shot.  I first did some plum jelly. It turned out great so that gave me a little confidence to try some other things. 

We started with this and . . .

turned it into jelly.

Yummy!!



Next we made some green tomato relish.

Grandad had some help from Rainey in shelling the purple hull peas!

We have also made lots of hot sauce and pickled okra and have put corn, squash, okra and purple hull peas in the freezer. It will be nice this winter to pull those out!!
