We had just walked into the high school and had only gone a few steps and stopped to talk for a couple of seconds when we heard something. We looked up and realized that we had probably just set off the alarm. We quickly went back outside and immediately this loud alarm started blaring. We didn't know what to do except hang around until the law enforcement got there so we could tell them that we didn't break in - we actually had a key. All of us had left our cell phones in the car so we couldn't call in and tell them so we figured it was best to just wait. We didn't know if there were security cameras in the building that would have our picture so we opted not to run. LOL Well . . . we waited . . .
and waited . . .
and waited . . .
and the alarm continued. It was literally making me sick at my stomach. Eventually we saw the sheriff car drive by over on the next street and we just knew he was on his way but no one every came. Reassuring huh!!?? After at least 10 long minutes of that alarm blaring, it finally shut off. Still no one came - so we left!
My stomach was in knots so I told them to get me to Miller's so I could get a coke and settle my nerves. :) Miller's is the drug store - as we called it growing up. I worked for the owner after high school in the pharmacy when he owned Hooten's Drug Store. They still have the soda fountain - you know where they squirt the cola syrup in the cup and add the soda water. There is a little lady that has worked there forever! She is still working there and she makes the best drinks and shakes. If you tuned in to the Ranger game last week you probably saw her. She loves the Rangers and had never been to a game. Someone that came into the drug store found that out and contacted the Rangers. They sent her 8 tickets and a limo to pick her up and take her to the game. It was fun talking with Ms. Mable and hearing about her trip.
On our way back to Tina's we drove down the first street Robert and I lived on when we got married. I guess you could say it was a "sign of things to come"!!
We finally made it back to Steve and Tina's and enjoyed hamburgers with family and friends.
I love hanging out with my family!!
