Catch up!!

Mother's Day weekend - Britni, Chandler and Rainey came on Friday evening to spend the weekend. Kylie and Steven came on Saturday. Chuck had to work and Austin was still at school. We had a nice weekend. I always enjoy having the kids and grands home.

My own mother passed away when she was 62 years old - 3 days before her 63rd birthday. Mother's Day is always bitter sweet. I had a wonderful Christian mother as my example and I miss her so much however I have been truly blessed with 3 beautiful, healthy children.

Rainey and I made chocolate pies on Saturday morning. I am not very good at the meringue part, but Rainey helped me spread the meringue on this one. I thought it was pretty funny the way it turned out. Of course I told everyone that I made the smiley face on purpose. LOL

Daddy's birthday - My daddy's birthday was on May 10 - it is always close to Mother's Day. He would have been 89 years old. He was such a good man and I miss him terribly!!

There are times that I get so sad because my parents missed my kids growing up and they would be so proud of all of them and my kids missed so much by not having them around. My mother passed away when Britni was 5, Kylie was not quite 3 and Austin was 20 days old. My dad passed away about 10 1/2 years later. I am so thankful for my Christian parents and the way that I was raised but I sure do wish they were still around to ask for advice now and then!!

I can so relate to your post here. It is tough seeing your kids grow up and know that your parent or parents are not around to see them. My mom would have loved seeing my boys grow into such good little men. I bet both mine and your moms are in heaven smiling down on their sweet grandchildren!
