Basic Training bound!!!

My great nephew, Taylor, has enlisted in the Navy and will be headed to Basic Training next week. My sister and her husband (his grandparents), Ann and Hugh, hosted a going away party on Saturday.

We always have a good time together - whatever the occasion. We sat around and snacked and visited - lots of stories going on around the dining table and beyond. Those attending included my sisters - Barbara and Ann,

my daughter and son-in-law, Kylie and Seven,

my brother-in-law, Tim,

my nephew, his wife and son, Murray, Kristie and Dylan,

Pawpaw (Hugh or Uncle Pugh as Chandler calls him),

Robert and I,

and my brother and sister-in-law, Steve and Tina.

Taylor's dad, Wesley was also there but for some reason I did not get a picture of him. :(

Later on we went to our church for dinner. Our youth group was having an enchilada dinner as a fundraiser to raise money for their mission trip this summer. My other great nephew, Dylan, is in the youth group so we thought we would help him out. Robert decided he would hitch a ride to the church in the cool car with Steven.

Afterwards we went back to Ann and Hugh's and watched "Old Dogs". It was pretty funny. We had a great time at the party and hopefully Taylor will carry some good memories with him to basic.

God bless and keep you, Taylor and may He keep a hedge of protection around you always!! We love you so much and will keep you in our prayers!!

In the navy
Yes, you can sail the seven seas
In the navy
Yes, you can put your mind at ease
In the navy
Come on now, people, make a stand
In the navy, in the navy
Can't you see we need a hand
In the navy
Come on, protect the motherland
In the navy
Come on and join your fellow man
In the navy
Come on people, and make a stand
In the navy, in the navy, in the navy (in the navy)

They want you, they want you
They want you as a new recruit

It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood . . .

Today is just beautiful and yes I know they say we will get more rain in a day or so, but I am trying to enjoy it while we have it. I drove home from work today with the windows down. Yeah!! As my daddy used to say - make hay while the sun shines. He meant it literally - he was a farmer/rancher. :)

It has been a little tough getting back in the work groove this week and now I am getting a sore throat. Just great!! Robert is at a track meet so I think it will be an early bedtime for me tonight!!

Fun in the . . .Snow??!!

I didn't realize at the beginning of SpRiNg BrEaK that we would have snow at the end!!! It's just crazy. Second day of Spring and we have flowers and snow on the tree at the same time!!

Oh well . . . our kids and grandkids were here and we still had fun. Austin got home on Thursday and we hung around the house. Chandler and Rainey were here as well. While the weather was nice we played outside and when it cooled off we played inside. Britni and Chuck came in on Friday and took the kids and went out to Chuck's parents for the night. Kylie and Steven came in on Saturday to spend the day visiting Austin. They pulled up in this!!! Oh yeah!!!

Yes I did get the opportunity to cruise town. It is sweet!!!

Saturday evening we all went to the Fish Fry. I know we just went a couple of weeks ago with my brothers and sisters but I think fish is healthy and really good for you - so what if it is fried in heart attack grease!!!

Sweet handsome boys - Chandler and Austin

Sweet Britni and Chuck

Sweet Rainey's favorite part!! And look at Chandler's precious face peeking in at the top corner of the pic. :)

Sweet Kylie and Steven

I do not know what Robert was doing!!

It snowed on us on the way to Paris last night, but since nothing was sticking I didn't expect anything this morning but when I woke up there was more snow!!

About 8 this morning we sent Austin on his way back to school. Such a long, long drive and I sure get nervous. I miss him and want him to come home but I really hate for him to drive all that way by himself and then to send him off this morning with the weather like it was. He did a little damage to his car on his way through Dallas. The car fishtailed and the back end hit the cement guard and damaged the taillight. I figure it also suffered some bumper damage but we haven't seen any pics yet. YIKES!!

Kylie and Steven headed home after lunch at the DQ. Britni, Chuck, Chandler and Rainey left about 3:30 and the house has been incredibly quiet - well - except for the A&M vs. Purdue game going on in the living room!!

Tomorrow it is back to the grind, but I do thank God that I have a job to go to!!

Fun in the sun!

Austin made it home on Thursday for a few short days!! :( Chandler and Rainey always want his attention. They had a game of "around the world" going on here. Austin doesn't like it when I get the camera out and Chandler usually says "no pictures".

I just love these little people!! Even if they won't both cooperate at the same time!!

And then Olsen thinks he always has to be where the action is. He loves to play with Chandler and Rainey and tries to get up in their faces!!

Who says you can't find good help anymore??

I've had some extra help this week. Chandler and Rainey are staying with us for a few days and they both like to help!! I know it won't last forever so I try to take advantage of it. Robert was moving the firewood off of the back porch and we needed to clean out the fireplace. Chandler wanted to help get the ash out of the fireplace and if you know me I hestitated at first and then I thought - oh well - what's another layer of dust around here. :)

He did a very good job and wouldn't stop until he cleaned out ALL of the ashes.

Today I decided to make some chicken and rice. Austin was on his way home and I thought we could have that for lunch. Little miss Rainey always wants to help. I told her to pull her chair over and she could help. She wanted to pour the rice in and stir the soup mixture and spread the chicken around the pan and sprinkle the salt and pepper!!

She is a good little cook and ate 2 big helpings for lunch but she kept calling it soup. "I want more soup." LOL

Spring Break

Headed out on Friday after school to visit Robert's mother. Britni, Chandler and Rainey went with us.

We helped a little with yard work. Went to church on Sunday. Visited with Robert's sister and brother-in-law, Cheryl and Travis.

There is always time for bubbles and . . .

bugs. Rainey squealed when she realized it was on her foot. LOL

Britni needed to do some shopping so we decided to go to College Station. Britni, Rainey and I spent the day visiting A&M campus and shopping around town. They have built a new sculpture that is pretty neat and Rainey liked all the fountains!!

Rainey is always diligent in taking care of her babies!! She is pretty good at changing diapers!

And we have to keep the tootsies all polished for special occasions!!

It was so pretty outside and I tried to get some good pictures of the kids. Most of the time they won't cooperate.

We have had a busy few days. Spring break is passing quickly!!
