Alaska

Yep - we are headed to Alaska!! We will celebrate our 30 year anniversary at the end of June so we are taking an Alaskan cruise to celebrate!! Everyone that has been says it is so beautiful!! We can't wait. I have been researching what to take and trying to mentally decide what to wear, etc. so I can set it aside to pack. I am looking forward to drinking coffee in the cool early mornings sitting on our balcony!! I am sure I will have tons of pictures to share after the trip!!

Catch up!!

Mother's Day weekend - Britni, Chandler and Rainey came on Friday evening to spend the weekend. Kylie and Steven came on Saturday. Chuck had to work and Austin was still at school. We had a nice weekend. I always enjoy having the kids and grands home.

My own mother passed away when she was 62 years old - 3 days before her 63rd birthday. Mother's Day is always bitter sweet. I had a wonderful Christian mother as my example and I miss her so much however I have been truly blessed with 3 beautiful, healthy children.

Rainey and I made chocolate pies on Saturday morning. I am not very good at the meringue part, but Rainey helped me spread the meringue on this one. I thought it was pretty funny the way it turned out. Of course I told everyone that I made the smiley face on purpose. LOL

Daddy's birthday - My daddy's birthday was on May 10 - it is always close to Mother's Day. He would have been 89 years old. He was such a good man and I miss him terribly!!

There are times that I get so sad because my parents missed my kids growing up and they would be so proud of all of them and my kids missed so much by not having them around. My mother passed away when Britni was 5, Kylie was not quite 3 and Austin was 20 days old. My dad passed away about 10 1/2 years later. I am so thankful for my Christian parents and the way that I was raised but I sure do wish they were still around to ask for advice now and then!!

National Nurses Week

Just wanted to give a shout out to our little nurse, Kylie and recognize her for her determination and hard work on the road to becoming a Labor and Delivery nurse. It was a long year of hard work in nursing school but she got that BS in Nursing degree after earning a BS in Allied Health. Kylie has been working in Labor and Delivery for almost a year now and she loves it!!

National Nurses Week is celebrated annually from May 6, also known as National Nurses Day, through May 12, the birthday of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing.

I don't have any current pictures of our nurse in her scrubs but here are a few from her nursing school experience.

Graduation from nursing school

After she was "pinned" - received her nursing pin.

To our very own Florence Nightingale - I know you are a very good nurse and we are so proud of you, Kylie!!

Olsen

Olsen - named after the Aggie baseball field (Olsen Field) is Austin's dog that we are keeping until he is out of college or until he takes Olsen to college with him. I am not sure Olsen would survive the college life. :) I just thought I would post about the Lab so Austin could see pics and see that we do feed and play with Olsen occasionally. LOL Austin thinks we leave him in his pen and don't feed him regularly!! Olsen is 2 years and 3 months old and weighs about 90 pounds!! He is solid!!

Olsen is a fun dog. He loves the swimming pool and he loves for people to be outside with him. He minds fairly well, however he does need some work with a few commands. He loves it when Chandler and Rainey are here. He follows them everywhere!! When Robert is out working in the yard Olsen stays right with him.

Olsen especially likes it when Austin is home. Austin wrestles him around and Olsen gets so excited!! We both miss you, Austin!!

Britni worked so long and hard and succeeded in getting her degree!!! Whoop!! She is now working on her Master's Degree - working toward her principalship. Is that a word??

We are so proud of you, Britni!!

Happy 2nd Anniversary

Two years ago today we married off our baby girl to the man of her dreams!! Congratulations Kylie and Steven and we wish you many more years together!!

This picture is taken on the steps of the building where they met in music appreciation class. :)

This is taken under the Century Tree on campus. Legend has it if you walk under the Century Tree with your special someone then you are destined to be married.

I thought this was a cute pic of them taken at the state cross country meet when they came to watch Austin run.

The proposal which was definitely a surprise to Kylie.
